In the blink of an eye, vast expanses vanished: cities and castles, ancient forests and mighty rivers, even entire nations—all wiped from the face of the earth. And in their place, like a patch sewn onto the world's torn canvas, alien lands appeared. Lands unknown to bards or mapmakers—a landscape burning with an unnatural crimson beneath a sky frozen in eternal radiance. Thus, the very first patch from another world appeared. But it arrived not alone, bringing with it unspeakable creatures and magic shards.

People quickly learned to craft spells from these shards, and some even dedicated their lives to studying them.
